Capital Campaign Contribution Memorial Park Conservancy is engaged in an $11 million Phase I Capital Campaign which began in February, 2008 and includes:
Pedestrian/Cyclist Bridge - A landscaped "living bridge" near the park's west entrance will provide pedestrians and bicyclists with a safe, beautiful route across the north and south sides of Memorial Drive. The elevated bridge will connect to other trails within the park's trail system.
Outer Trail - An all-weather outer looptrail is planned to mirror the Seymour Leiberman Exer-Trail on the opposite side of Memorial Loop East.
Running/Trails Center - This facility will be designed to meet rigorous environmental standards and will feature locker rooms, showers and an orientation center.
Tennis Center Plaza - Renovations to the tennis center plaza will provide a paved plaza, commemorating donors, along with lush, native trees and landscaping to welcome visitors.
Trail Lighting - Additional trail lighting will be added on the southwest side along Memorial Drive and in the equestrian tunnels near the Houston Arboretum and triangle between Woodway/Memorial.
Retaining Wall - Located on Memorial Drive, this area is a potential hazard and an aesthetic challenge.
Maintenance Endowment - Tax dollars can provide only minimal maintenance in Memorial Park. Thus, this campaign includes a $1 million endowment to provide ongoing support, ensuring that prk trails and facilities will be maintained for the enjoyment of generations to come.
